The sell: You’re not ready for the gut-punch this movie will give you, but you should watch it anyways. Movies are all technically “visual storytelling,” but Like Crazy could teach a class in it. Through creative use of montage, Like Crazy is able to convey the evolution of feelings over time and space with remarkable clarity. The story centers on a relationship and all its small moments, especially the small moments that feel huge. Quiet intimacy feels heightened as the characters ask themselves what they want and what they need. Soft piano music by Dustin O’Halloran plays in the background as the characters face loss and change and you sob into your laptop.
