Can kilts be sexy? Yes, but not in this movie
Release date: May 24, 1995
Director: Mel Gibson
Who should watch this movie: Scottish people who need a laugh
When should you watch this movie: When you’re playing a drinking game along with the screening (drink every time you cringe at the bad accents)
The sell: Braveheart is about white people fighting for their freedom from other white people, which is why Mel Gibson wrote, directed and starred in it. It’s not a bad war movie as war movie’s go, but really it’s nothing special. There is a good/very quotable speech towards the end, but the final scene is gratuitous. It’s clear that Gibson has an overly simplistic view of political insurgence and heroism.
