YES

Who should watch this movie: People who “don’t enjoy fantasy” but love The Notebook. Folks who read the book. Fans of Dare Devil who want to experience the full range of Charlie Cox’s acting ability.

When should you watch this movie: When the family can’t decide on one movie. When you’ve had a bad day. When you’ve had a good day. When there is white wine in the fridge.

The sell: Stardust is capital F Fun. It’s a classic quest story, with all the classic fixings: Evil witches, disgraced princes, awkward hero who finds his inner strength through various trials and tribulations, and Ricky Gervais. Seriously, for such a silly movie, Stardust has an incredible cast, including Robert DeNiro, Michelle Pfeifer, and Claire Danes. Whether it’s the cast or the creative source material (Neil Gaiman’s novel by the same name), Stardust’s take on the fantasy genre doesn’t feel cliche’d or predictable. The characters are unexpectedly human and the action is genuinely thrilling. This movie checks all the boxes and is deeply satisfying. Plus, the end credits song is a banger.
