Princess Cyd

I love Chicago!

YES

Release date: May 4, 2017
Director: Stephen Cone
Language: English

Who should watch this movie: Bisexuals. Fans of indie film.

When should you watch this movie: Over the summer. By yourself. When you need a moment to feel young and lost.

The sell: Princess Cyd is an indie indie movie with all the low-budget indie movie fixings. Folky soundtrack, shots that were definitely taken on a bike, scenes in a coffee shop, you get the idea. While having lived in Chicago definitely adds a layer of sweet familiarity to this movie, you do not need to have been to Chicago to enjoy it. Cyd is a character that everyone knows and if you don’t know a Cyd you were/are a Cyd. She is trying to be her own woman, but doesn’t fully know what that looks like or what that means. She is not naive, but she has so much still to experience and she is excited to do so. Princess Cyd is about exploration of self through myriad relationships, familial, platonic, sexual, and romantic. This movie will make you want to lay out in the sun and think about the first crush you had in elementary school.
