Paheli

Ghost sex (but not the ghost sex that you’re thinking of)

MAYBE

Release date: June 24, 2005
Director: Amol Palekar
Language: Hindi

Who should watch this movie: Fans of Rani Mukerji. People who are fans of Rani Mukerji but just don’t know it yet. Anyone in an unhappy marriage.

When should you watch this movie: When you’re feeling good and want to feel even better. When you’re with friends. When you’re on twitter and can live tweet your reactions.

The sell: Paheli is just really cute. Based on an Indian folk tale, Paheli tells the story about a woman who’s husband is away on business, and a ghost who takes his place. It’s a lighthearted romance with catchy musical numbers and Shah Rukh Khan. There’s nothing to dislike about this movie, in fact there is every reason to love it. That being said, it doesn’t carry the same emotional weight or thematic depth of other hindi films (other films in Shah Rukh Khan’s filmography frankly.) It is just fun and should be watched for fun. Also should be watched for Rani Mukerji and her beautiful husky voice, damn.
