Who should watch this movie: Fans of “What we do in the shadows.” Folks who are hot for Tom Hiddleston.
When should you watch this movie: When you’re beginning to feel jaded. When you turn 24 and think, damn I have to do another 20+ years of this??
The sell: This is a non-vampire vampire movie starring Tilda Swinton. That should be enough to get you to watch this movie, but I’ll go on. Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston *swoon* play Adam and Eve, husband and wife and vampires. When Adam falls into a depression, Eve joins him in Detroit and the two take long drives through the city at night. It’s a soft and meditative movie; a slow but not monotonous reflection on what it means to love someone forever. The pair are inhumanly smart but also kind, in a very human way. They’re hipsters, but with the real expertise to back up their esoteric tastes. The soundtrack is marvelous and the cinematography equally so. Come for the blood, stay for the love story and the long shots of Detroit in the dark.
