A better love story than The Notebook
Release Date: January 18, 1940
Director: Howard Hawks
Who should watch this movie: Journalists. Aspiring journalists. Retired journalists.
When should you watch this movie: When you’re fighting with your partner. When you’re pissed at your boss.
The sell: Non-stop zippy dialogue for the entire picture. I’m not kidding, the whole movie is one sarcastic quip after another. Zingers left and right. His Girl Friday is a seemingly wholesome story where not everything is as it seems. The action is exciting but not scary, the pace is fast but not overwhelming. The chemistry between Rosalind Russell and Cary Grant is undeniable and it makes for top notch entertainment. Is it deep and thought provoking? Nope! It’s just fun. Not to mention the fact that this movie turns breaking news into the sixth love language.
