Excalibur

Why did Sir Patrick Stewart agree to be in this movie?

NO

Release Date: April 10, 1981
Director: John Boorman
Language: English

Who should watch this movie: Die-hard fantasy fans with too much time on their hands.

When should you watch this movie: When your magic the gathering tournament is canceled due to Covid-19 and you have a bunch of free-time on your hands.

The sell: When I first saw this movie, I thought “Oh! This must be what Monty Python’s Holy Grail is based on!” BUT actually Excalibur came out six years AFTER Holy Grail. It’s as if someone saw the Monty Python version and thought to themselves “Oh, what this needs is a dramatic remake where we take everything too seriously.” This movie is long, boring, and severely over-acted. How they got Sir Patrick Stewart to be in this movie (in a supporting role no less) is entirely beyond me.
