The sell: THE DRAMA. This is a movie about true love and how to fuck it up. Devdas is a story about romantic and familial relationships at odds, blown up to a massive scale. The sets, the colors, the costumes, and the number of dancers are all massive and the effect is breathtaking. It is 3 full hours of stunning visuals and superb choreography. Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit are a duo for the ages, and it may be worth it to watch this movie just for their performance of Dola Re Dola, but really it’s worth it to watch the whole thing because it’s all fantastic.
