Crazy, Stupid, Love

Better than La La Land don’t @ me

Release date: July 29, 2011
Director: Glenn Ficarra, John Requa
Language: English

Who should watch this movie: Fans of the Office. Fans of Emma Stone’s filmography, specifically Easy A and Spider Man

When should you watch this movie: When you’ve forgotten what Ryan Gosling’s abs look like.

The sell: Is this movie anything special? Not really, but it IS good. There’s nothing particularly new or interesting in this movie, but it is really fun. Crazy, Stupid, Love is about multi-generational courtship practices and all kinds of love. Some of it requited, some not so much. While it doesn’t get points for originality, it does get points for heart and for Steve Carell. The jokes are good albeit very 2011, and I think we as a collective keep forgetting that Ryan Gosling is actually funny. Gosling and Stone are a great duo, we knew that going in, but their chemistry really does provide the glue that holds this otherwise chaotic movie together. Bonus fact: Analiegh Tipton, aka the most successful contestant of America’s Next Top Model, is in this movie.
